Author's Response: Thank you! I had intended for it to be sad as it will set up the rest of the story nicely. But yeah, tried to make it sad on purpose and was hoping that it came across the way I wanted it to. The person I'm writing it for wanted an emphasis on emotions, namely Sonic's ones of regret and whatnot. Though honestly, this first chapter is actually 2 chapters as I really didn't want to break them up and felt that they would have a greater impact if kept together. And yes, I will be updating soon!
