Alright, be warned, nothing makes my lip curl more than seeing characters portrayed in a less than savory way. Amy is one of my favorite characters, as is Sally. Above all else though, Knuckles is my #1 character. So to see them all portrayed in a less than appealing light makes me uneasy. That being said, I really enjoyed this story! I found that crawling into Shadow's head was well done here. You managed to slowly reveal details about the story that had be going 'oh. Oh! OHHHHH SHI-!" throughout the page.
The short, clipped sentences really helped carry the story along though. The way you could feel Shadow's anger and utter heartbreak carry throughout each word. It's very impressive.
What I find the most impressive out of this entire story though, is that the hook was powerful enough that I could continue reading it beginning to end. Like I said, nothing makes me hit the back button faster than seeing characters I love be put in bad spots. I know I'm harping on this, but it's true for me. I don't know though, this story almost needs those characters to act like they did -- otherwise Shadow wouldn't have nearly the amount of anger towards them that was displayed. It would be a totally different story. Such a problem -- (what me? Hypocrite? Pffft - what're you talking about?!). Thus, this is a real testiment to how well you're able to write! Good job.
Author's Response:Thank you so much! ^^ Yes, I know that the slightly hated on chars were lovable characters, but as you said, it was meant to be dramatically mean and cold. I'm really glad you feel so strongly about it, I've had many nice comments about this story, and i'm glad becasue it's one of my personal faves of my works. I usually try to keep them in character as well as I can, but I felt like doing an overly dramatic story with altered personas. ^^ Thank you for your honest opinions and review! Very much appreciated.
well that was a nice cheerful bedtime story.
Anngsty angst, somehow pulled off okay. The main kudos here is that Shadow is believable. Amy not so much (though she burns my eyes) but it all contributed to a perfectly passable story. Just a touch of angst overload. Healthy helpings of realistic Shadow and Sonic though. A solid thumbs up! :)
Author's Response:(ugh, double post)
Thank you! Yea, they were meant to be a little OOC in a dramatic, NU UH!! kinda way ^^ I've been told many times that I got Shadow perfectly in character XD Perhaps being angry and a bit depressedwhe writing this was correct on Shads' part, lol. Thank you for your review! :)
